Headache Pain Relief Strategies

Headaches Pain Relief

Headaches can be one of the most painful and disruptive conditions a person can experience. Headache pain can affect our actions with others, our disposition, our ability to work and hinder our ability to take care of our homes. Headaches can range from mildly annoying to all consuming and disabling. When searching for pain relief of headaches most people want to try something that is simple, easy and not costly. This article will discuss headache pain and offer a non-surgical, drug free treatment option to gain headache pain relief.

Although there are many things that can trigger a headache one of the most common contributary causes of headaches is misalignment of the joints of the spinal bones of the upper neck, causing pinched and irritated nerves. As a chiropractor who has been in practice for 38 years, I have seen thousands of patients whose headache pain resulted from this cause.

I have found that there are two aspects of treating and eliminating headaches. The first is through gentle, conservative treatment. Chiropractic care is very helpful and successful in aligning the joints of the upper neck spinal bones. Chiropractors perform safe, effective spinal manipulation, which is sometimes called a chiropractic adjustment. This care, typically, quickly helps reduce and eliminate headache pain.

The second aspect of helping a patient to obtain headache pain relief are the home remedies and obligations that patients themselves must perform. I will list a couple tips in this article.

A cold pack to the back of the neck for 10 minutes can be incredibly effective in helping to reduce the pain of a headache. It should not be too cold and should be comfortable for the entire 10-minute time period. Several cold pack applications per day is usually the best approach for pain relief.

Another important idea one can utilize to help reduce and eliminate headaches is to improve one’s upper body posture. This is especially important with people who are subjected to prolonged periods of sitting and doing desk and computer work.

To counteract the effects of sitting we should get up for several minutes every half hour to move about. It is also very helpful to go for regular walks. These can range from several 10-minute walks at convenient times or consist of one longer walk of up to 45 minutes or more.

There are many more home remedies that chiropractors, like me, recommend in helping people gain headache pain relief. Seeing a chiropractor is the most effective action one can take to find a simple, cost-effective approach to finally live a life free of headache pain.
